I have a few more kid race pics. I also have a video of the 9/10 group (future Crit racers, for sure). I'll make sure Matt B. and Smitty get copies.

As for the kid in the red helmet...I heard someone say he'd only gotten his training wheels off on Saturday. Wow!

In about 4 years, you're going to be tossing your breakfast to keep up with that kid on the singletrack!  Wink

Thanks again everyone!  I intend to let the Parks Director know that there is strong support for doing this race every year, although maybe not on Father's Day...

My only regret was not being able to peel away to come and watch the REAL races that day - the kids!

I should see what Bob has in pictures today and will find a way to post them somewhere...

I didn't get a chance to pat him on the back, since he was laying on the ground workin the hurt out of his legs at the finish.  But, way to go Marty!  Every year there's a few local guys who turn the screws and turn the heads at the front of the races.  Great to see you put the wonk on the guys out at EI this weekend, me included.

It's hard work paying off and it's great to see.  I think there's a lot of riders who struggle at the races and think they could never go toe to toe with the big dawgs.  At Mohican and now EI, you showed that it can be done and in front of the home crowd to boot!

Good stuff.

For what it's worth, I didn't mind that this race was on Father's Day. We just turned it into a family outing on a sunny day at the park doing what Dad loves best. I would've been on my bike anyway. Putting in a few volunteer hours before the ride and watching some kids have a blast while their parents cheered made it an even better Father's Day, in my humble opinion as a cycling father of two cycling sons. :-)

That's my younger son Nolen in the closeup shot - green shirt and lots of blond hair. Here's my other son Haden, when asked before the race to show me his "eye of the tiger" face. Eeeeek!  Smiley
